If you’re trying to help your GT students build on their strengths, you can hand out this interest sheet. Talented and gifted students can fill out this interest sheet to find out exactly what their strengths and weaknesses are.

How to Use an Interest Sheet

This interest sheet for talented and gifted students can help gifted kids figure out where their areas of giftedness lie. In general, kids who want to find out if they are gifted in any area can use this interest sheet. Gifted and talented students may not realize that there are many areas of giftedness that they may fit into.

Visual/Spatial Intelligence

Do you enjoy completing difficult puzzles?What Kind of Giftedness Do Your Students Have? 

Do you like to analyze maps, charts, and tables?

Do you enjoy the visual arts and have an active imagination?

If so, you likely have strong visual/spatial intelligence. This type of intelligence can help you to become an artist, engineer, or architect.

Verbal/Linguistic Intelligence

Do you enjoying writing and telling stories?

Can you often successfully persuade others?

If so, you likely have a strong verbal/linguistic intelligence. This type of intelligence can help you to become a writer, public speaker, lawyer, journalist, or teacher.

Logical/Mathematical Intelligence

Do you enjoy looking for logical patterns in the world around you?

Do you like playing with numbers or solving problems?

If so, you likely have strong logical/mathematical intelligence. This type of intelligence can help you to become a mathematician, scientist, engineer, computer programmer, or accountant.

Bodily/Kinesthetic Intelligence

Do you like to dance or do gymnastics?

Do you enjoy various sports or love working with your hands?

If so, you likely have strong bodily/kinesthetic intelligence. This type of intelligence can help you to become an athlete, dancer, artist, carpenter, or mechanic.

Musical/Rhythmic Intelligence

Do you love playing an instrument or analyzing musical patterns?

Are you often drumming out a beat while you study?

If so, you likely have strong musical/rhythmic intelligence. This type of intelligence can help you to become a musician, DJ, or singer.

Interpersonal Intelligence

Are you often successful in helping people come to a compromise?

Do people gravitate towards you because they feel that you can relate to them?

If so, you likely have strong interpersonal intelligence. This type of intelligence can help you to become a counselor, therapist, advertiser, or politician.

Intrapersonal/Existentialist Intelligence

Do you enjoy meditation and thinking about your life for periods of time?

Do you often analyze what makes you or others do what you do?

If so, you likely have strong intrapersonal/existential intelligence. This type of intelligence can help you to become a philosopher, religious leader, or anthropologist.

Naturalist Intelligence

Do you enjoy spending long periods of time surrounded by nature?

Do you feel passionate about causes that attempt to preserve the environment?

If so, you likely have strong naturalist intelligence. This type of intelligence can help you to become a scientist, environmentalist, park ranger, or botanist.

Are You Gifted?

After looking at this interest sheet, talented and gifted students should be able to identify their area of giftedness. Focus on this area and work to reach your potential, but don't let other subjects and interests fall by the wayside.
